PREVIOUS EVENTS 2008
Saturday and Sunday, September
6th and 7th, marked the inaugural
presentation of Bayville's Waterside
Festival by the Bayville Chamber of
Commerce. Although mother nature
and tropical storm warnings tried their
best to wash away this much anticipated event, it was decided that the show must go
on. Saturday was in effect a "dry" run since the ominous weather forecast kept the
Town of Oyster Bay from delivering their generously donated "showmobile" and also

festival. The food court bustled the entire day serving delicious burgers, hot dogs, fries, sausage and peppers,
and THE freshest clams around courtesy of the North Oyster Bay Baymen's Association. The children's inflatable
attractions, courtesy of Gooseberry Grove in Oyster Bay, thrilled youngsters all day long as the tireless chamber
members supervised activities and dispensed information to the inquisitive masses. Music filled the air starting
with solo performer Matt Manning on guitar, ukelele and harmonica performing folksy standards and originals,
followed by the classic rock artistry of Sound Advice that elevated the mood and kept people rocking. The
musical lineup concluded with 6GUN5 performing their best classic to contemporary rock favorites while also
acting as emcee for the first ever Clam Eating Contest won by the narrowest of margins by Paul Burnup, chamber
member and owner of the Waterview Club, over Bob Liebold, chamber member and owner of Gooseberry Grove.
Overlooking one of the most scenic views of Long Island Sound, the
Waterside Festival gave our beloved community yet another reason
to be proud of our friends and neighbors as we put our best foot for-
ward in establishing a standard for future events. There is no short-
age of thanks to be given out to all those involved in putting the fest-
ival together in such a short period of time. Sponsors that overwhelm-
ed the chamber with their generosity included:
Bayville's IGA (Food Basket) that provided bread products, Arctic
Glacial Ice (bags of ice), Eastern Distributors (water and soda), Bay-
ville Fire House (emergency standby crews, equipment usage, more),
Village of Bayville (groundwork for our entire event, event consulting, Green Market involvement, Bike-A-Thon
Involvement and cross advertising with Waterside Festival, tireless volunteer hours, acting as impromptu
grievance court, clam eating contest participant, award presentation, more), The Town of Oyster Bay (musical
band shell, waste management, grounds/facility usage, more), musical groups Sound Advice and 6GUN5, solo
performer Matt Manning, not to mention all the chamber member sponsors and contributors such as:
coordination, musical performance with 6GUN5, more), Lawn Doctor (equipment, tools, food/goods donation,
more), Drs. Lippman/Valicenti Dental Office (tireless hours of raffle/prize coordination, more), Emagination
Studios (contest winner plaques, photo documentation of event, more), A Eastern Connection (tireless hours

security, more), The Village Church (vendor coordination, tireless volunteer hours, blessing of the event, more),

Twin Harbor Auto Repair (equipment, tools, tireless volunteer hours, more), Van Buren Pontiac/Buick/GMC
(emcee extraordinaire, auto display, tireless volunteer hours, more), and Vissichelli Landscaping (tireless
volunteer hours, more).
The event would not have been possible without the numerous con-
tributions of Peter Ronzetti of Pine Island Asphalt & Concrete.
As the event coordinator, he planned out the festival from inception
through conclusion including the lay out and plotting of all participants
from vendors to attractions to the food court. He acted as vendor co-
ordinator and eventual liaison to out-sourced vendors that helped
make the event feel so well organized. He procured all necessary
documents and permits from various agencies enabling the event to
take place and put the chamber in touch with the right people to assist
in all aspects of event planning. His company provided massive equip-
ment necessary to prepare the grounds following severe weather and
he himself even donned earmuffs as he used his Bobcat to rid the parking lot of enormous quantities of standing
rain water. He was a valiant participant in the Clam Eating Contest (15 clams in 20 seconds) which was his own
creation and which added much levity and sportsmanship to the entire event. The Chamber's utmost thanks goes
out to Peter.
Please excuse any forgotten contributions or contributors. The list is long and the appreciation is limitless. The
festival proved what could be accomplished when a group comes together with focus and clarity and honorable
intentions to better their community through selfless contribution of time and resources. The chamber is looking
forward to announcing how some of the proceeds from the festival will become scholarships and emergency funds
for the needy. Now may be the time to consider becoming a member of the Bayville Chamber of Commerce
yourself. We're still looking for some good people to further strengthen our organization as we start to prepare
for some upcoming chamber presented events.

kept the children's inflatable attractions from going up since usage is
extremely dangerous in high wind situations. That being said the food
court was relatively successful, and the vendors that the potential
elements seemed to sense that the festival just some cooperative
weather to become a worthwhile endeavor.
Well, that brings us to Sunday and the day was PERFECT!!! From the
best weather we could have asked for to a fantastic turnout, the
festival was truly an unmitigated success. Over 100 vendors basked in
the sunshine as friendly hordes of festival attendees were treated to
some of the finest arts and crafts exhibit booths ever seen at any local

Saturday, December 6th marked the date for The Village of Bayville's Winter Festival culminating with the
annual Tree Lighting ceremonies. This year, the event expanded on last year's outstanding presentation by the
Beautification Committee by getting a helping hand from The Bayville Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the
wonderful Ice Carving exhibition, magician, carriage rides and the generously donated refreshments, the 2008
Winter Festival added a "Breakfast with Santa", a petting zoo, Matt the Music Man as well as the Boy Scouts offering
lovely holiday wreaths and the Girl Scouts providing holiday carols.
The turnout was more
than could have been
hoped for starting with
a successful breakfast
that was a veritable
feast thanks to the
hard work and
generosity of chamber
members. Although
the breakfast was free,
donations were accept-
ed that are earmarked to go to both the Village Church and St. Gertrude's Church in Bayville. The pictures with
Santa were a hit as well as our newest chamber member, Dana Harris with help from Erik Hilliker, took and
developed some great holiday keepsakes at no cost to the families.
The carraige rides, ice
carving, magician, petting
zoo and Matt the Music
Man just filled the rest of
the day with family fun
activities that left smiles
on everyone's face. The
evening concluded with
another visit from our
fantastic Santa, more
holiday music and finally
the tree lighting. The
entire festival was truly a
success as the Village,
Beautification Committee
and the Chamber of
Commerce came
together to give a little
something back to the
great community we all
call home.
